Vanier Park, Vancouver

After a meeting yesterday, headed down to the beach for a little amble before heading out to meet up with one of my sons after school. Vanier Park and environs is a lovely place to kill some time on a sunny day.

Scenes from Quebec

During August we traveled from Ottawa east to the Gaspe peninsula, spending most of our time in vieux Quebec and circumnavigating Gaspe followed by a mad dash home through New Brunswick, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, spending less than twenty-four hours in the three states.

As a young man I always loved travelling in Quebec, meeting the people and torturing their ears with my high school French. As an older dad now I'm so happy we spent our holiday in Quebec. My french is rusty to be sure, but I did try - not always successfully - to avoid folding when attempting to speak the language. Our bilingual kids had little problem keeping up and seemed to delight in having an edge over their parents.

We loved Quebec, loved the scenery, the weather, the food, and of course the people. Notre plus jeune fils sera de retour au printemps avec sa classe, et je suis jaloux!

It looks as if summer may have finally broken out here. Yay.
