Incongruities of the day
- Christopher Ian Bennett, former Interim Leader of the BC Green Party, announced on Thursday he endorsed Premier Gordon Campbellās leadership and has joined the BC Liberal Party. That's the same party which is hell-bent on selling the most oil and gas exploration leases it can. A record year in fact.
- Harper claims strong mandate to lead when only 22% of elligible voters voted for him and his party (5.2 million of 23.4 million registered electors). Of those who voted, 61.2% voted for a candidate other than a Conservative. With only 38% of the vote, Conservatives achieved nearly 47% of the seats in the House of Commons. Six in ten are not pleased.
- How much of the more than 300 million dollars spent on this most recently pointless election would have it cost to keep this fellow in safe lodging rather than seeing his body wash up on shore in Stanley Park? Not very much. How many more are in his situation - on drugs or not - in Vancouver? In B.C.? Thousands. Is it acceptable that Canada and Canadians, among the richest countries and people in the world, turn a blind eye to scandalous treatment of our own citizens? No.
