Mr. Speaker, this government has said right from the beginning, I have said from the beginning and my colleague the minister of the environment has said from the beginning that we can achieve Kyoto and we can do it while the Canadian economy is made more and more competitive and that means jobs. Emerson on February 3, 2005 reiterating his support for a plan which then Environment Minister Stéphane Dion had created

Given Emerson, who was then Industry Minister, worked with Dion to create a plan which both believed was viable at the time, its only natural to wonder why Canada’s “new” government’s minister of Industry, Maxime Bernier, believes the plan to be folly. Perhaps Emerson could explain, and that’s just what Dion asked for last week:

OTTAWA (November 15, 2006) – Stéphane Dion is today asking David Emerson to explain to his colleague the Industry Minister exactly why the former Liberal government’s plan to combat climate change would have made it possible to meet Canada’s international obligations under the Kyoto Protocol. More >
