Ethics Commissioner to Continue Inquiry on Harper, Emerson

Office of the Ethics Commissioner spokesperson Jonathan Choquette says that Ethics Commissioner Bernard Shapiro will continue with his preliminary inquiry into the Stephen Harper and David Emerson affair, despite overt and public pressure from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Choquette reminds us that the Ethics Commissioner reports to the House of Commons, not Prime Minister Harper and that Shapiro will take his direction only from the House.

All opposition parties have expressed support for a probe into the the minority government’s involvement in the Emerson affair.
