Constiuents Arrested for Demanding Meeting with MP Emerson
In Protest Against Emerson – Arrests Made you’ll find a first-hand detailed account of what transpired last Friday evening as a number of polite, largely grey-haired, constituents tried to arrange a meeting with their Member of Parliament, David Emerson.
Police attended and their actions were laudable. The officer in charge attempted to mediate a compromise between Emerson and the assembled constiuents – all we asked for was a peaceful meeting, out of the media spotlight, with our member of parliament. Over the phone Emerson’s political handlers, speaking for our hide-a-way MP, said no to the compromise.
As a result three constituents – regular people, not party activists – held to their principles and in the end were arrested for occupying the office all evening.
