David Emerson Spin: Out of Control

Conservative communications strategist Geoff Norquay is in Vancouver today, no doubt trying to help arrange spin in defense of disgraced parliamentarian David Emerson. Here’s the current spin, which he said on CTV‘s Mike Duffy show today (paraphrased but accurate in total, I’ll post the exact quote when I can):

“Here on the ground I’m finding tremendous support from the people who matter most, people like the Premier of the province, the mayor, the Board of Trade and Chamber of Commerce”

Norquay actually said “people who matter most”.

On national TV.

I’m not making this up.

I don’t need to make this up.

Good job Geoff. That kind of bozo remark is what pours out naturally when one tries to defend the indefensible. Norquay’s comment raised eyebrows among the panel and provoked a response “but what about the voters in Vancouver Kingway” – Norquay was more or less allowed to slide and pass on answering honestly.
