Power, not principle
We’ll hear platitudes left and right that the appointment of ex-Liberal David Emerson to the Conservative cabinet, and long-time conservative organizer Michael Fortier to the Senate and cabinet, was done for “non-partisan” reasons in the best interests of the country.
Despite the fact that Emerson is quite obviously a capable, conservative-leaning, member of parliament, clearly that’s a load of crap.
Both appointments are partisan at their core, designed to bolster the fortunes of the party in the next election.
