Martin on Iraq

It seems the entire Canadian press and blogosphere is going to parrot a certain North Bay Nugget quotation of Paul Martin, in an attempt to grey the line that divides Martin from Stephen Harper:

I really think Canada should get over to Iraq as quickly as possible.Paul Martin April 30, 2003

If we are going to use this quotation, lets be fair and include the entire quotation:

I really think Canada should get over to Iraq as quickly as possible. There’s a huge need for front-line medical professionals. There’s a huge need for policing. And there’s a huge need for infrastructure rebuilding.Paul Martin April 30, 2003

I’m no fan of Paul Martin, but neither am I a fan of Stephen Harper, who would have committed Canada to war in Iraq no ifs, ands, or buts.
